Director of Human Resources

Summary

The director of human resources is a key member of the leadership team at Briercrest College and Seminary.  The director provides central leadership for all matters related to human resource management with the ultimate goal of continuing to make BCS an excellent place to work.

Duties

  • Provide primary leadership to the human resources department by building and leading a team that shares the goal of making BCS a great place to work
  • Oversee all HR related functions such as policy and process development, payroll, benefits, performance assessment, training, conflict resolution, privacy, employee appreciation and care
  • Facilitate shared responsibility among supervisors and leaders for:
    • Motivating employees to fully engage in the mission of BCS
    • Maintaining a workplace where associates are respected and valued
    • Promoting and enhancing a workplace of the highest integrity by ethical, safety and legal standards
    • All HR matters including planning and managing departments, recruiting and leading staff, HR processes and succession planning

Qualifications

  • A strong understanding and whole hearted support for the mission of BCS
  • A demonstrated ability to work with people to achieve common goals
  • Experience in the HR field preferably with a related professional designation or training
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or related experience and training
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated administrative ability in an institutional context
  • The gifts and abilities to flourish in a context that provides care and support for employees
  • Desire for continual personal development in all areas of HR process and practice
  • Administrate and technological skills that maximize the wise use of information systems

  • An administrative structure that builds, promotes and is worthy of trust internally and externally
  • A workplace context where employees are increasingly effective in their role and their contribution to the mission of BCS
  • The development and administration of policies and processes which are consistent with labour laws as well as with industry standards, and serve to increase institutional effectiveness

Team Relationships

  • This position will report to chief financial officer
  • The HR department staff will report to this positon

I really admire how much Caronport has to offer. For a small town school, CHS has so many opportunities involving sports, performing arts, etc. The community also provides so much fellowship, which really helps students grow in their faith.
